Middle board is an alternative to Kayoi-tatami and laid between Temae-tatami and Kyaku-tatami. It offers some space between a host and guests and you can place tea-things like a tea bowl on it. We have two kinds of middle boards, pine and cedar.

This Byobu is designed for Tokonoma alcove and a hanging scroll can be hanged on it. The surface is covered with Juraku wall style fabric. You can select either a “metal hinge” or a “paper hinge”. Both come with a hook to hang a scroll. Paper hinge doesn’t make a gap with the surface.

We have three types of basic sets for those who will purchase tea-things for the first time. The basic set A includes Natsume (a black lacquered middle-sized container), Chasen (a tea whisk), Chasyaku (a tea scoop) and Chakin (a white linen cloth). In addition this, you can also purchase another set of Mizusashi (a vessel for fresh water), Kensui (a slop basin), Futaoki (a lid rest) or Furosaki-byobu (a short folding screen).

Anyone can practice Chado (tea-ceremony) with Ro (sunken hearth) readily at home. As there is no difference in level between tatami mats and the sunken hearth, you don’t need to build Ro into the floor.

Step 4 : Producing New Tatami Mats

After confirming your payment, we start producing new tatami mats.
It takes about one week to ten days to complete.

Step 5 : Shipping

It takes about one week for delivery. Regarding import duties and value-added tax, please make a direct payment to the driver.
