What is Kyo-tatami?<\/h2>\r\n\r\n

Kyo-tatami (handmade) is designated as a Kyomono Traditional Craft.<\/p>\r\n

There three requirements to be designated as Kyomono Traditional Craft:<\/p>\r\n

    \r\n
  1. Main part of the manufacturing process is done by hand.<\/li>\r\n
  2. It has to be manufactured by traditional technique or method.<\/li>\r\n
  3. The design and materials have to be traditional.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

    In addition, manufacturers of Kyo-tatami have to be a member of the ‘Kyoto Tatami Association of Commerce and Industry’, and the products have to be done within the designated area in Kyoto-city, Uji-city, Jyoyo-city, Muko-city, Nagaokakyo-city, Kyotanabe-city, and Yosano-cho, – all in Kyoto Prefecture.<\/p>\r\n

    Kyo-tatami is an iconic symbol of traditional techniques inherited in Kyoto.
    \r\nMotoyama Tatami have three craftsmen who are First Class Certified Tatami Craftsman \uff08*1\uff09<\/span><\/p>\r\n

    *1\uff09First Class Certified Tatami Craftsman is a national accreditation recognized by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare.<\/p>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\r\n\r\n
